Bye summer.
Where’s my hoodie?
Do my dark rinse jeans still fit?
Are there any conflicting fall shows on my DVR?
Unlike years passed where I would have paid God a million dollars (because he needs it?) to bring the New York City summer to an end, I’m really not feelin’ it this year. Have I received the dreaded Dementor’s Kiss that J.K. Rowling told us all about? For the three people who have not read the Harry Potter series, (and you should. You REALLY should.) Dementors are the Debbie Downers of the wizarding world. When they enter a room, all of the joy you have in your heart exits. Like Ron Weasley, it feels as though “I shall never be cheerful again”. Sans adorable British accent, of course.
But here’s where my coffee kicks in and I get a little perspective. I pretty much had one of the best summers in the history of human civilization. I’m not used to all of this summertime goodness! It’s going to take a minute to adjust to the air down here.
So I’m going to need your help.
If I need to let go, I would like to pay my summer forward to one lucky reader. There was so much that was good about Australia, but the best was Tim Tams; chocolate cream sandwiched between two chocolate biscuits and covered in, well, CHOCOLATE. Please don’t say “it sounds like too much”. because it’s not, I swear. Don’t say “it sounds a little plain.” because they are sneaky, complicated little MoFos that you will be addicted to before you know it.
I am giving away two boxes of 100% Australian Arnott’s Tim Tams, 1 classic and 1 Double Coat (my personal favorite) in a giveaway that begins..right..now. AND THAT’S NOT ALL! I will also be throwing in a pound of my very favorite Graham Cracker Coffee from that little Upstate NY cafe I frequent in the fall. The winner will get the very best of Australia and the very best of Upstate in one delicious package. Even better, this lucky SOB will have all of the makings of a Tim Tam Slam! I never tried it myself, but every Aussie I met made sure to tell me about it. You take a Tim Tam and bite two tiny corners off diagonally opposite from each other to make a cookie straw. Then you sidle up to your favorite hot drink-coffee, cocoa, IRISH coffee- and slurp it down with the Tim Tam. Right before the cookie collapses, you “slam” it into your mouth.
Sigh.
Two boxes of Tim Tams.
One pound of Graham Cracker Coffee.
Several chances to win.
Simply comment on this blog entry below for one chance to enter. If you really must try the Upstate Tim Tam Slam, why not go for two entries? Comment on this entry for one, then take it to the next level by mentioning the giveaway on your blog or Twitter! Make sure you copy and paste the link with the re-tweet or blog mention so I can see it. You only get two entries, so don’t go beserk on the internet. Also, this giveaway is only open to my domestic readers. (Sorry Aussies, but you can get your hands on Tim Tams any day. Lucky! If any of you survive the 21 hour flight to NYC, I promise to make you a cup of the Graham Cracker coffee.)
This giveaway is closed for business by the end of Thursday, 9/17. Get to commenting!
This is an f’ing great giveaway, if I do say so myself. So please indulge me this one last goodbye to my summer.
Dear summer,
Thank you for old friends who have an inappropriate relationship with Wegmans, and three of the best weddings ever.
Thank you for every tiny alley in Melbourne. Beautiful graffiti, amazing bars, the best people.
Hollaaaaa to New York City and your tiny alleys. Beautiful graffiti, amazing bars, the best people…and donut ice cream sandwiches.
I wanna make a shout out to The Grampians. Terrifying and awesome.
And as always, Big Love to my family. We’ve got the best moves.
Ahhhhhh…parting is such sweet sorrow.
An additional thanks to Kevin for providing the wedding dance picture. I don’t know him that well, but he seems cool…even though he also drinks the Wegmans Kool-aid.

Seriously? YOU NEVER TRIED A TIM TAM SLAM? The whole time you were there??? Well. If I win, I shall do enough to make up for it.
I have never had Tim Tams. Must try them. Fiance is addicted to Wegman’s Donut Shop coffee. I don’t drink coffee. Yes, I know I’m a freak, thanks for pointing it out.

Your blog has won my heart, and THEN you go mention the greatest film ever made in “Nice Outfit.”
Do enter me! Please! There is all kinds of yum to be had! And thanks to RenovationTherapy for Twittering about this.
How could a chocolate sandwich cookie with chocolate filling not be irresistable?
OOoooooOOOoooo! I’d love to win!
Sarah, your awestasticness knows no bounds.
I hope I win. I amy not be the most deserving, but I am the most hungry.

All your talk of Tim Tams lately have me wanting to try them first hand. And anything involving graham crackers, I’m there. I already have visions of turning that coffee into an awesome ice cream. You wouldn’t want my visions to be for not, would you???? No pressure though…I’ll just silently weep over here in the corner.
Tim Tams sound like the perfect late third trimester pregnancy solution. I am praying to Australian gods on this one.
I need both of these things because I’m pregnant. Don’t deprive me.
(What? Oh, damn! I just read the last comment! I’m not the only pregnant one! Third Trimester up there definitely needs them more than I do but that won’t stop me from trying!!)
Here’s my second entry! Ta-da! http://www.sehacecamino.com/?p=1281
Holy cow, I’d fly back to Oz to stock up on Tim-Tams, I really would! My friend just left for her honeymoon there, and I really hope she remembers the little people in her life who flew to her wedding and rewards them properly with an assortment of flavors
GRAHAM CRACKER COFFEE? Where can I get me some of that???
(Tweeted, too, OH YES I DID.)
OH dear goodness. I had my first and only Tim Tam Slam in Switzerland (of all places) and I would probably scream from Indiana’s mountaintops (haha) if I got another chance to savor the best that Australia has to offer!
Tim Tams sound a little too much and unfortunately a little too plain. But I guess I would have to try them with the coffee
Yay for summer in the city and Tim Tams!
My ex, who was an Aussie, got me hooked on these! Every time I would go to see him I would bring back at least 10 packages haha. WHAT AN AWESOME GIVEAWAY!!!
I live in Oz and just wanted to say that you can also do the Tim Tam slam with cold milk!
P.S. double-coat is my fave as well!!
I want them right now! I love graham cracker coffee.
…sneaky, complicated little MoFos…I love it! My name is Lauren and I am Dara Klein’s best friend! I experienced Tim Tams with Dara in Sydney back in 2001. We brought back a lot of memories, but the one that stands out to this day is our love for Tim Tams! I haven’t had one in so long, I’m dying to have a little bite of my favorite little cookie! And oh, the Tim Tam Slam…we tried that at a little cafe in downtown Sydney! Crazy Aussies, I tell you!
Too much! Never!
All right, you’ve convinced me I need to enter this giveaway. I’d never heard of TimTams before your blog, but I *do* know the wonders of graham cracker coffee. I hereby lay myself on the TimTam & Graham Cracker Coffee altar. Que sera sera.
Sounds like a perfect candidate for International Snackytime @ the Fortress - I would have to try them though…
