The Sandwich is a Donut

Only a day and a half of summer left. Go out with a bang!

Hop on the 7 train and look at some art.

Accept the G train and it’s non-existent schedule for what it is; a moment of Queens/Brooklyn zen.

Eat the only acceptably awesome fish tacos you have ever had outside of Los Angeles.

Locate the legendary Peter Pan bakery and take on their donut ice cream sandwich.

Little Sister: What are you doing?!
Me: I’m on my way to get the donut ice cream sandwich!
Little Sister: What?! Wait. I’m here with your other sister who says thanks for calling her back, by the way. (talking to my older sister while I hold)… It’s an ice cream sandwich, but the donut is the sandwich.
Me: Ewww, don’t put it like that! it’s not like a sandwich sandwich. It’s like the chocolate cookie wafers, but it’s a donut split in half. I’m getting the Red Velvet donut.
Little sister: (conferencing with my older sister.) She wants to know if the donut is hot or cold.
Me: Cold, I think.
Little sister: (more conferencing as I wait for the verdict) Nope. She says no. She would prefer the donut hot, like a la mode.
Me: That’s ridiculous! It wouldn’t be an ice cream sandwich, then. It would be A LA MODE!
Little sister: Whatever, you just said it wasn’t even a sandwich!
Me: I don’t want to fight about this. Call me later…
Little sister: Wait! Take a picture.
Me: Of course I will.

Use your three day weekend wisely. Eat a donut ice cream sandwich. Don’t listen to my sister.

RT-go get it. Now. It was amazing, but I’ll tell ya what…it would have been MIND-BLOWING with a classic upstate orchard donut! Can you imagine?

Papacito’s in Greenpoint. DELICIOUS. Seriously, the only decent ones I have had outside of LA. http://papacitosbrooklyn.blogspot.com/
