Mornin’ Glories!

Whaddya have for breakfast?

Homemade whole wheat toast with a pat of butter and two spoonfuls of St. Dalfour Strawberry preserves. I drank coffee from my Reeses mug and danced around a little bit. Sometimes breakfast is so good it has a beat.

Whaddidya listen to on the train?

1) Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse , Minus the Bear. Ummm, will you guys go to the prom with me?
2) Africa, Toto. It was the next song in alphabetical order, what could I do?! And…maybe I love that song…
3) We Run This, Missy Elliot. “My style can’t be duplicated or recycled.” No truer words have been spoken.
4) Little Thoughts, Bloc Party. If I ever teach a meditation class, I’m going to play this song at the end to get everyone all agro! Oh wait…that’s not the point, is it?
5) No Sunshine, Death Cab for Cutie. Please, don’t I know it! You try making it through February in NYC, boys!

Ok, satisfied?! Jeez um crow, enough with the 20 questions!

So how ’bout you?

Well, today I had the “sarah special” for breakfast. For those of you who don’t know, that is a sandwich of egg whites, spinach, and feta on toasted whole grain bread. Delicious! Sarah came up with it, but she adds nasty ketchup to it and ruins hers. My version retains the wonderful flavors.

My standard: one egg, fried and doused with Frank’s Red Hot, and two slices of MY homemade wheat bread (Peter Reinhart’s from Bread Baker’s Apprentice, though I have ABin5 and will give theirs a try) with butter, and coffee with plain soy milk. My roommate thinks I’m crazy but if I don’t eat breakfast I’m a major grumpy pants.

D&M, what makes it so “special” is the ketchup! The sweetness of the ketchup and the saltiness of the feta is magic!

Adrienne, please. Sooo not an option to skip breakfast. I feel like a lunatic by noon if I do. BTW, love your site. That salmon looks fresh and delicious!

Commuter-to-work days, breakfast is always two slices of whole wheat toast with peanut butter. (On work from home days, breakfast is lunch).

I don’t listen on my commute (by train, 40 minutes one way). I read. Currently reading Charles de Lint’s “The Blue Girl”.

doeandmouse - that sandwich sounds yummy. (hold the ketchup please :-) My usual weekend breakfast at our favorite diner is Eggs florentine - 2 poached eggs, spinach, cheese sauce, over tomato slices.
