Invisible Touch

I’m going to Australia tomorrow.

Have I lost my mind?!
Why?! Why am I doing this?!
I am going to f’ing boot!
I don’t wanna go!
Call the police!
YOU pack!!

There’s no way I can get it together to write something coherent today. Let’s pull some stuff off the top of my brain and piece an entry together…stream of consciousness style.

-Kim got married. It was so much fun that I forgot I had a real camera and took a majority of pictures with my crappy Blackberry phone. Central Park, rooftop bar reception, grilled cheese and french fries at a diner immediately following, and the subway home… perfect NYC wedding.

-I’ve been thinking about burritos a lot lately. They are delicious, but I’m sorry, waaaaay too filling. I used to think that all of the contestants on Survivor should learn how to make a fire before they get on the island. Wrong. They should learn how to fix themselves a burrito from nature because they will never go hungry again.

-In between my salon appointment and the wedding, I stopped for a quick lunch at Vynyl. Unfortunately, they were playing Invisible Touch by Genesis. It’s pretty much the only song I care about now.
Sarah: “Holy s–t, I haven’t heard this song in a minute!
Waiter: “Yeah, right?! How amazing is the modulation at the end?!
Sarah: “Totally! Oh, I can’t wait!!”
Waiter: “Here it comes…”
Waiter/Sarah: “…and now it seems I’ve fallen, fallen for her…SHE SEEMS TO HAVE AN INVISIBLE TOUCH, YEAH! SHE REACHES IN AND GRABS RIGHT HOLD OF YOUR HEART!”

Sooooooo…

What do weddings, Genesis, and burritos have to do with my trip?! Maybe nothing, maybe everything! Kim did encourage me to buy the ticket in the first place. Genesis’ brilliant lyrics certainly point to the mystery that is my obsession with this freaking country in the first place. I have written “I really want to go to Australia someday” since my first journal with a kitten on the cover. Why? Oh please, like I know.

But how about burritos? Huhhh! Do I need to learn how to make one myself in order to survive the next three weeks?!

F—ing great. Another thing for the to-do list.
Do they sell tortilla makers at EMS?

First, you will have so much fun in Australia. I spent a summer there and loved everything about the place. Except, don’t count on burritos there. Definitely try the “strong and bitey” cheese. It was my favorite.
Second, Vynl is one of my favorite places to eat and they are always reminding me of old classics.
Third, now I will have genesis stuck in my head all day.
    Have a great time!!
