I have so many good ideas…

…The first being my Plumpy’nut Birthday Party! Please donate whatever you can via the ChipIn account on the sidebar of this blog. If you donate and link back to this blog entry, you’ll be entered to win a pound of Graham Cracker Coffee. The dream number of $1125 will save three villages worth of children. THREE!! Donate a couple of bucks and get some of that good karma.

That’s my first brilliant idea. The second of which comes to fruition today before noon.

I think you should know that this is all my doing. Seriously! I remember reading Dreams from My Father
back when I was still an assistant. This was four or five years ago. I was probably wearing that J.Crew denim coat that I loved for 3 months then turned on and never wanted to see again. Whatever… Anyway, I remember walking down the subway station stairs (safe, I know) reading about Obama’s time at Occidental. One paragraph about Obama’s experience being bi-racial in college made me stop dead in my tracks. It wasn’t a massive tearjerker moment. My dad’s from DC, not Kenya. And I sure as hell never lived in Indonesia. Still, I remember pausing on the stairs and thinking, feeling deep down, “God, that’s what it feels like. That’s exactly what it feels like.” Anyone who could convey such a complicated and subtle experience is something special. I signed up for the Obama campaign that day, way before I got my t-shirt.

My brilliant and wonderful instincts will be proven today, along with all of the Americans who listened to Obama speak about any number of issues and thought, “That’s what it feels like. That’s what I feel like. I believe that.”

We all have so many good ideas.
