Feb’sies

BOOOOOO FEBRUARY, BOOOOO! You stink!! Why you gotta be so distant from busy holidays, charming snowstorms and the Peanuts Christmas album?  I’m so sure you couldn’t be just a little closer to my New Year’s resolution fitness goals, New York City spring, and my once in a lifetime summer vacation!

Noooooo! Of course not!! Every year you bring your 28-day freezing butt up in here!  Then I gotta sing the Mid-winter blues - not much to do and waaaaay to much to think about. Well, I got news for ya Feb’sies…you ain’t bringing me down this year. No way no how!

This is the last batch of brownies this apartment will see until I can manage my chocolate problem responsibly again. I am all for homemade treats as a quick lift out of a mild depression. But when you find yourself eating a handful of chocolate chips for dinner just because they are there … well, that ain’t pretty. So every last chocolate chip and bar in my pantry was poured into these brownies for my co-workers to enjoy.  That’s Metta in real time, February! BOOM!

Silly, silly February. You think your evil ability to suck all cheer and optimism out of a room are going to stop me from saving the money I need for my trip and eat well while doing it? Think again, d–k. You obviously didn’t notice my brand new cookbook Artisan Bread in 5 beside my snazzy new bread-proofing bucket. You didn’t count on my sister having an extra pizza stone that she never uses. You didn’t know that the yeast my Mom used when she made bread is still around with the same freaking label.  That brings me much comfort, February, and HOMEMADE BREAD!  Maximum Comfort is going from sweet to savory. Ooooo, that stings doesn’t it February?!

Being here while getting there. Australia in the future, homemade bread right now.

February, you got served!

Macaroons are cool too! I made some yesterday. Very quick and easy. Highly recommended!
