Ladies and Gentlemen, would you all please raise your glasses to one of the best damn meals I’ve had in a long time- Bee-Bim Bop at the very excellent Korean restaurant Do Hwa.
This crappy photo does not do this trad-ish Korean rice bowl dish justice. 400 lbs of yummy rice, with an entire Korean garden’s worth of cooked veggies and tofu, crowned with with an egg sunny side up. Just when I thought the yolk was was actually runny side up, the hot bowl (forged by the Balrog in the Mines of Moria) cooked the hell out of it in all of that other Korean goodness. Cheers to Bee-Bim-Bop, which I insist on calling Bee Boo Bop since it’s way more fun!
Here’s to my little brother who showed me how the hot sauce worked in my B-cubed, was brave enough to sample the pepper margarita, and made the same stupid joke with the metal chopsticks that I did at the exact same time. Cheers to siblings pretending to threaten each other with fancy chopsticks as if they were switchblades!
And one last toast to fresh ginger infused cocktails. This ginger kamikaze was insanely cold, spicy, and refreshing. If you told me it was a health tonic proven to grow strong hair and nails, I would have refilled my prescription.
Cheers to ginger kamikaes and their sister drink Dark and Stormys!
Salute to mystery shots bought by excellent bartenders!
Bottoms up to weird white-flowered blouses that seemed like a good idea at the time of purchase, but later made your arms look just like Chynna the wrestler’s!
Gan-Bei to Wikipedia for having a complete list of toast in several languages!
And a long life to New York City in the spring. May it last for a good long time!
